"Prayer is not a question of altering things externally, but of working wonders in a man's disposition. When you pray, things remain the same, but you begin to be different."
Oswald Chambers
Hebrews 12:28 The Message:
"Do you see what we've got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He's actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won't quit until its all cleansed. God Himself is fire!"
I never thought of it that way. I mean I always thought it was because I prayed that an answer would come. I thought that if I prayed correctly and enough then that would 'make' God answer my prayer. But it's not for me to 'get' God to answer. Prayer is for me to change and listen to God show me His way in waiting for the answer... therefore, living God's will. So it's really not in doing per se. It's in being. The more I pray the more I know God. The more I pray the more I trust God. The more I pray the easier it is to 'be' in God's will, not 'do' God's will. More living it, breathing it. No formulas, no schedules, no knowledge collecting. Genuine being. Prayer is being close to God and getting burned. (in a good way)"
